VIDALIA — Services for Vertina Jones Ellis, 94, of Vidalia, who died Friday, June 20, 2014, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Young’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in Vidalia Cemetery under the direction Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ellis was born July 6, 1919, in Vidalia, the daughter of Bennie Ellis and Carrie Jones.

Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Robert Ellis.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Hill and husband, Robert, Gertrude Jamison and husband, Melvin Jr., all of Fresno, Calif., Martha Penn of Patterson, Calif., and Lou Bertha Ellis of Vidalia; one brother, Bennie Ellis of Las Vegas; 17 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one aunt, Ludy Smith of Oakland, and one cousin, David Ellis of Ferriday.
