FROGMORE — Services for Earnest Payton White, 94, of Wildsville, who died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at noon Thursday at St. James Baptist Church in Frogmore with the Rev. L.B. Oliver officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. White was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Frogmore, the son of Payton and Edna Warfield White.
He was a retired educator for Concordia Parish School System.
He served as senior deacon at St. James Baptist Church.
He received an undergraduate degree from Grambling State University and a masters degree from Southern University.
Mr. White was preceded in death by his wife, Willie R. White.
Survivors include two sons, Paul White of Wildsville, and Ernest Merle White of Atlanta; one daughter, Edna Yvonne White Dixon and husband, Charlie, of Alexandria; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
