NATCHEZ — Services for Charles H. Brown, 86, of Natchez, who died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Promise Rehab Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Broome officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the church.

Mr. Brown was born Jan. 29, 1928, in Natchez, the son of Charles Henry Brown Sr. and Tina Rawlings Brown.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Ole Miss Alumni Association, Natchez Adams County Humane Society, the Natchez Football Foundation and the Santa Claus Committee.

He was employed with Callon Petroleum Company for more than 25 years.

He was an accomplished billiards player and was an avid runner, competing in many marathons.

He retired as Adams County Administrator in 2006 and was an avid supporter of Ole Miss athletics, particularly Ole Miss football.

He loved his family, Natchez and everything Ole Miss.

Survivors include his wife, Robyn Gibson Brown; two sons, Gregory Charles Brown and wife, Pam, of Brandon, and Kevin Carter Brown of Natchez; two step sons, C. Edward Gibson Jr. and wife, Maribeth, of Jackson, and Christopher R. Gibson of Natchez; and six grandchildren, Anna Brown, Meg Brown, Peyton Brown, Catherine Gibson, Mary Paxton Gibson and Dalton Gibson.

Pallbearers will be Greg Brown, Kevin Brown, Petyon Brown, Joe Murray, Darryl Grennell and Lynwood Easterling.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Tatum, Delton Porter, Paul Byrne, Hayden Kaiser, Joe Brunner and members of the Bill Rice Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, Natchez Adams County Humane Society or charity of choice.
