Cochran the right choice for area

It was with great sadness that I read in The Natchez Democrat of the close primary race for our U. S. Senate seat between Senator Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel.
Where is the loyalty for a man that has always been so giving to our county and state?
I know that he has been in Washington a long time, that he is older, but how else does one achieve this position without this longevity?
Come on, fellow Mississippians, look at his wisdom and the fact that he has a very real possibility of being Chairman of the Appropriations Committee.
The McDaniel group calls the money sent to our state “pork”. I beg to differ with this group, calling it “jobs.”
Our state has been very fortunate to have him in DC to aid with Katrina relief, universities, the flood of 2011, businesses that bring jobs all over the state — North Mississippi, the Delta, East Mississippi, South Mississippi, the Coast – the list goes on. If our people will think, there is not an area in our state that has not benefited from Thad Cochran being our Senator.
This will not be possible with Chris McDaniel.
Ronald Reagan said that there will always be times when people disagree, but one must look at the big picture. This is now the time to look at that picture. We need Senator Cochran. This is not Entertainment Tonight with people running around with cameras in nursing homes, and sneaking into government buildings in the middle of the night.
Cochran is a gentleman and a scholar with loyal law abiding citizens voting for him. Of course, there will come a time when the torch is passed for Cochran’s Senate seat, but McDaniel is not the person to receive it.
I hope that my fellow Mississippians will think of this when they go to vote. Watching the D-Day ceremonies several weeks ago, one is humbled that these men fought and died for our right to vote.
So please remember them by going to vote on Tuesday, June 24th.
