VIDALIA — Memorial services for Simon Reed, 54, of Vidalia, who died June 2, 2014, were at 9 a.m. Thursday at Cornerstone Church.

Services were under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home.

Mr. Reed was born March 2, 1960, in Vidalia, the son of Joe B. Reed and Loreate McVea Reed.

He was the seventh of eight children.

He served honorably in the U.S. Army from November 1981 to September 1983.

He also worked as a truck driver, crane operator, mechanic and various other occupations.

Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Julius Ray Reed.

Survivors include his daughters Simone F. Reed of South Carolina, Naomi D.J. Robertson and husband, Keith, of Vidalia, Stephanie Bolton and husband Thomas, of Hawaii; four grandchildren, Cody, Bailey, Alexis and Diana; six brothers, Louis Reed of Natchez, Lorin Reed of Vidalia, David Reed of Natchitoches, Chester Reed of Jackson, Michael Reed of Ely, Minn., and Issac Reed of McCaskill, Ark.; one sister, Margie Reed of Hope, Ark.; and 21 nephews and nieces.
