On May 10, letter carriers at the Natchez Post Office collected approximately 35,000 pounds of non-perishable food.

Once again, the residents of Natchez and Adams County showed their community spirit by supporting this good cause.

The collected food was distributed to the Natchez Stewpot, Natchez Children’s Home and Catholic Charities.

The food pantries at Pilgrim Baptist, U.S. 61 South Church of Christ, Calvary Baptist and First Church also received food.

A special thanks to all radio stations that promoted this event and volunteers that helped to collect and distribute this food.

Also, many thanks to Supermarket Operations and the Loy family for their support of this food drive by donating 12,000 paper bags for residents to put food in.

We had help from The Boy Scouts led by Jim and Shana Hargon, Natchez High Students led by head coach Lance Reed and volunteers from each organization receiving food.

A special thanks to retired letter carriers, Renard Chatman, Joe Stutzman, Roy Bonds and Frank Patti, who helped with coordinating the collection and distribution.

We depend on the help of many to collect and distribute this amount of food and to every letter carrier and volunteer we say thank you for your efforts have greatly blessed those that are in need.
