When Brittany Rasberry says she hopes everyone can find something they love in her boutique she really means it.
Rasberry, 23, opened Rasberry Alley at 515 Main St., May 1 and is focused on creating a shopping experience that appeals to a variety of women.
Rasberry Alley carries trendy women’s clothing, shoes and accessories. The store carries a variety of sizes, including plus sizes.
Rasberry, a Franklin County resident, said the idea to carry plus-size clothing in her store was inspired by her 16-year-old sister Sumer, who wears plus-sized clothing.
“There’s just not a lot of plus-size options at boutiques,” Rasberry said. “(Sumer) is 16, so she doesn’t want to dress like she is 60, and sometimes that’s all you can find.
“So I just decided if I was going to open a store, I was going to carry plus sizes. That’s what I am focused on now, expanding my plus sizes.”
The decision to open Rasberry Alley was somewhat “spur of the moment,” Rasberry said.
Rasberry graduated from Ole Miss with a degree in psychology and worked for two years in an inpatient psychiatric unit. She then went to work as a case manager for a disaster recovery program.
“When our grant ended, I decided I wanted to do something else,” Rasberry said.
Rasberry had worked in retail and felt she knew the ins and outs of the business. She decided near the end of March she wanted to open a boutique by May.
Friends encouraged her to open the store in Natchez.
“Once I found a location, everything fell into place after that,” she said.
The response to the store’s opening has been overwhelming, Rasberry said.
“All of my customers have been excellent,” she said. “Everyone in the community has been really positive and encouraging.”
Rasberry picks out most of the clothes the store carries online and places orders through vendors. She is heading to the AmericasMart Atlanta market in June to find new styles for the store.
“I am really open to feedback from people about what they want to see in the store,” she said. “I always tell people, ‘If you see something online or on TV that you would like in the store, just tell me.’”
The store’s prices range from $5 to $50, and Rasberry said she hopes to cater to women looking for stylish, versatile and affordable clothing.
“I want you to be able to find a top you can wear to work but also out on a Friday night,” she said.
Rasberry Alley’s slogan is “A style for every story,” and Rasberry says she is focused on making sure the store lives up to that.
“I want everyone who walks through that door to be able to find something they like,” Rasberry said.
