NATCHEZ — Services for Anna Marie Curry Tyler, 87, of Natchez, who died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Wright officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.Tyler obit pic 05.16.14

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tyler was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Port Gibson, the daughter of Dan Curry and Mattie Thomas Curry.

She joined Greater New Bethel Baptist Church early in her life and was a mother of the church for many years.

She became an Eastern Star during her life and later a Heroine of Jericho.

She loved cooking, and for years, she worked as a cook in the school system.

Many years was spent with the Braswell family in Natchez, for whom she worked and loved dearly. She was always willing to help others, and her door was open to anyone in need.

She especially loved and cared for grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Tyler was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Tyler; four brothers, Tom, Jessie, Leroy and Alexander; four sisters, Elnora, Kathleen “Honey”, Mary and Hattie; and one grandson, Daryl Mapp.

Survivors include two sons, Leon Curry of Waterloo, Iowa, and Tommy Tyler and wife, Roberta, of Johnston, Iowa; three daughters, Elnora Jones of Kennesaw, Ga., Lillian Campbell and husband, Henry Pollard, of Natchez and Mary Breland and husband, Jessie, of Laurel; six grandsons, Charles Campbell Jr. and wife, Tawana, Clement Campbell and wife, Linda, all of Natchez, Freddie Campbell and wife, Shirley, of Dallas, Troy Tyler and wife, Ann, Tyrone Tyler, all of Des Moines, Iowa, Leon Curry Jr. of Pittsburg, Calif.; five granddaughters, Sharon Brown and husband, Abraham, of Mobile, Ala., Robyn Hutcherson and husband, Ulrick, of Acworth, Ga., Tambi Greene and husband, Matthew, of Des Moines, LaToya Mapp of Laurel and Precious Curry of Waterloo; two great-grandsons she raised, Jarell Campbell and Charles L. Campbell; 26 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews, nieces and friends.
