FERRIDAY — A Ferriday woman was arrested Friday after she stabbed her boyfriend in the neck with a kitchen knife after he reportedly attacked her.
Ferriday Police Department Interim Police Chief Derrick Freeman said Doris J. Brown, 47, 808 Georgia Ave., told police her boyfriend, Charles Edward Atkins, held her down and beat her Friday.
When Atkins let her go, Brown went into the kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Atkins in the neck, Freeman said.
Atkins was transported to Riverland Medical Center and later to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.
Freeman said Atkins was in stable condition in the intensive care unit Saturday evening.
Police have not determined whether Brown acted in self defense, Freeman said.
Brown was charged with attempted second-degree murder.
She was being held Saturday in the Concordia Parish jail with no bond.
