BYRAM — Services for Elva-Ruth Downing, 78, of Pearl, who died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chancellor Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Natchez City Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. under the direction of Chancellor Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Downing was born June 5, 1935, in Natchez, the daughter of Frank Aikman Eidt and Elva Lydia Mathis Eidt.
She was a member of the graduating class of 1953.
She was active in chorus, choir, WIC, the Natchez Little Theater and Civil Air Patrol.
In 1972 she helped Neil establish his insurance business with Woodmen of the World and then purchasing and running the Lloyd T. Gould Agency.
She was employed at the University of Mississippi Medical Center for 25 years serving as the administrative secretary to the Director of Police and Security, retiring in 2007.
In 1972 she, Neil and Ruth-Ellen joined Alta Woods Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Neil; one daughter, Ruth-Ellen Lagos and husband Alexander; and a precious granddaughter, Sophia Anneliese Lagos, all of Allen, Texas.
