MONTEREY — Services for Samuel Roy Finley Sr., 85, of Eva, who died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his residence in Monterey, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lismore Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.D. Beard and the Rev. Byron Gray officiating.
Burial will follow in Lone Pine Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Finley was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Eva, the son of James Thomas and Sara Jane Spinks Finley.
He was a corporal in the United States Army.
He was a famer and loved his family and will surely be missed by all that knew him.
Mr. Finley was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Lea Coates Finely; his parents; two sons, Albert Ray Finley and Samuel Roy Finley Jr.; and two brothers, J. D. Finley and Ed Finely.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Wayne Finley; two daughters, Louise Finley Boone and Mary Jane Finley and companion, Major Wood, all of Monterey; seven grandchildren, Dwayne Finley and wife, Jana, Keith Boone and wife, Becky, Chad Boone and wife, Vicki, Woodie Mack and wife, Karla, Mindy Morris and husband, Chad, Jimmy Finley Jr. and Roy Finley III and wife, Jessica; 14 great-grandchildren, Makayla, Avery and Luke Finley, Samuel and Finley Mack, Sam and Timmy Boone, Destiny, Kaylea, Kaden, Brendon and Rylee Boone, Jayden Stroud and Ryder Grace Morris; one brother, Oscar Finley and wife, Edith, of Monterey; one sister, Ernestine Albright of Longview, Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Finley, Keith Boone, Chad Boone, James “Woodie” Mack, Jimmy Finley Jr. and Chad Morris.
Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons.
