COLUMBUS — Services for Lesby Mitchell Wise, 89, of Columbus, formerly of Meadville, who died Monday, April 7, 2014, at New Horizon Living Facilities of Columbus, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Gunter and Peel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Mordecai officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez National Cemetery at noon Monday under the direction of Gunter and Peel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wise was born Sept. 13, 1924, in Meadville, the daughter of Ralph E. and Gussie Whittington Mitchell.

She graduated from the Mississippi Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Jackson and was a retired registered nurse.

Mrs. Wise was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Carey Wise; her parents; and granddaughter, Gina Conn.

Survivors include her two sons, Michael Wise and wife, Barbara, of Roanoke, Va., and Mitchell Wise and wife Roslyn, of Madison, Wis.; one daughter, Karen Wise Conn and husband, Barney, of Columbus; one brother, Rayford Mitchell and wife, Gerda, of Hattiesburg; one sister, Edith M. Lancaster of Hattiesburg; three grandchildren, Russell Conn of Steens, Brett Wise and Erin Wise, of Madison.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
