NATCHEZ — Natchez Fire Department officials are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged portions of one Natchez business early Monday morning.
NFD Chief Oliver Stewart said two engines responded to a fire at Jay’s Audio on John R. Junkin Drive at approximately 3 a.m. Monday.
Firefighters found flames contained to one side of the building when they arrived and were able to extinguish the flames shortly after arriving.
“There’s a lot of smoke and damage inside, but it didn’t affect the whole building,” Stewart said. “The fire pretty much stayed contained to one certain area.”
Stewart said investigators are looking into what caused the fire and would soon decide whether calling in the state fire marshal would be necessary.
No one was inside the business at the time of the fire, and Stewart reported no injuries from the blaze. Attempts to reach the business were unsuccessful Monday evening.
