Since 2010, members of Zeta Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha along with other Greek, civic and social organizations have sponsored a collaborative Teen Summit.
This summit addressed relevant issues facing teenagers in the 21st century. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority established an Emerging Young Leaders program to address the crises in the lives of young people.
This signature program provides activities that mandate our youth become better leaders and make smarter choices with positive consequences.
The 2014 Teen Summit addressed pertinent issues especially in the global marketplace in the fields or science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
After weeks of meeting to plan this event, the vision came to fruition on March 29 at the Alcorn State University’s MBA and School of Nursing buildings. The attendance was phenomenal.
This event impacted over 222 teens, parents and organizations, and has received rave reviews from the community.
The break-out sessions were truly beneficial and informative. The teens received information on stop the violence, college prep, academic excellence, stop the abuse , health issues and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
Many thanks to our magnificent presenters.
