Vidalia — A Ferriday man was arrested this week after a Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy recovered more than 4 ounces of marijuana and 116 Xanax pills in his car.
Larry L. Allen, 34, 337 Concordia Drive, Ferriday, was arrested Tuesday and booked on charges of possession of schedule I with intent to distribute (marijuana), possession of schedule IV with intent to distribute (Xanax), driving under suspension and speeding.
Allen was traveling on U.S. 84 at approximately 11 p.m. when CPSO deputy Dusty Lemoine pulled him over for speeding.
Lemoine said he could see Allen fiddling with something in his passenger seat as he approached the car and asked Allen to step out of the car, according to the police report.
When Allen stepped out of the car, a marijuana cigarette fell out of his lap and onto the ground.
Lemoine said Allen confirmed it was marijuana, after which Lemoine placed Allen under arrest and began searching the car.
Lemoine asked Allen what he was reaching for on the passenger side of the car, to which Allen said he was looking for his vehicle registration and insurance papers.
When Lemoine reached for the passenger side of the car, he uncovered a plastic bag containing 114 grams of marijuana in brick form.
Lemoine also recovered two more plastic bags containing a total of 116 Xanax pills and $1,220 in cash.
Allen was released from the Concordia Parish jail on a $20,000 bond.
