NATCHEZ — A 25-year-old Vidalia resident is recovering in an Alexandria, La., hospital after being involved in a single-vehicle wreck that claimed the lives of two others in the car.

Thomas Dotson, 25, of Vidalia, survived a wreck on Providence Road last week and was airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center, where he remained Monday.

Tiffany Dotson, Thomas’ sister, said Thomas was recovering Monday following a surgery over the weekend.

“They did surgery on his arm and popped his hip back in place,” Tiffany said. “He had a broken wrist, and the doctors told him it will take about six to eight weeks to recover.”

Mitchell Williams, 22, and Sarah Ables, 28, died following the wreck.

The wreck, an Adams County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said Monday, is under investigation. Investigators are waiting autopsy reports.

A 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Williams crossed Providence Road at a high rate of speed, left the roadway and struck a tree head-on.

Ables was the front-seat passenger, and Dotson was in the back seat of the vehicle.

Williams’ family members told investigators after the wreck he had a history of seizures.
