NATCHEZ — A prescribed burn of portions of the Homochitto National Forest by the U.S. Forest Service is bringing heavy smoke to Adams County.
Franklin County Emergency Management Agency Director Mark Thornton said the burn is an official action each year along Mississippi 33 and Liberty Road.
Thornton said portions of those roadways have been blocked off because of how heavy the smoke is in the area.
Adams County EMA Director Stan Owens said the weather conditions helped push the smoke toward Natchez.
“All that cool air is helping it come our way quick,” Owens said.
