NATCHEZ — Rod Guajardo has been promoted to the position of news editor at The Natchez Democrat.

Guajardo has worked at The Democrat since 2011 as a reporter.

He will continue, in his new role, to cover local and regional news, but will expand his work into other areas of the newspaper as well.

He is a Birmingham, Ala., native who earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Auburn University in 2011, where he served as the editor of the student newspaper, The Auburn Plainsman.
