Zeta Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, along with other Greek organizations and sponsors, will join in a collaborative project to present its Fourth Annual Teen Summit on March 29.
This event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at Alcorn State University School of Nursing, Natchez campus, with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. It is open to all school-age students in the Miss-Lou.
This is an opportunity for teens and pre-teens to be exposed to current issues that are facing today’s youth.
Our mission is to educate, empower and enrich the lives of our youth as they engage in interactive, open dialog workshops facilitated by area leaders on topics of interest such as health, stop the violence/bullying, academic excellence, college prep, and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
We are endeavoring to help inspire our youth so they can dream big and develop positive outlooks on life.
The teens will learn information that will encourage positive and critical thinking skills, promote self-respect and improve self-esteem. The summit will provide teens with a voice to articulate their issues to others in the community and their peers.
Zeta Delta Omega Chapter, along with other Greek organizations and sponsors, rely on the support of this community in encouraging our youths to come out and be a part of this summit.
Each year, since the inception of this event, we have seen continued growth as we serve more and more individuals. Participants will receive valuable information, enjoy a complimentary lunch and have a chance to win prizes.
All of this will be at no cost to the participants. It is our goal that teens will leave inspired, challenged and determined to be more productive in their homes, churches, schools, and communities.
