I thank each of you for naming me as an Unsung Hero.

I am honored and humbled to receive this award from you, and I am grateful to the anonymous individual or individuals who nominated me.

Neither buildings nor structures change neighborhoods, people change neighborhoods. Service is difficult, but when the focus is on the dignity of the one(s) served, people become more amenable to the monumental task of positively changing their ideologies and behaviors.

Change does not occur in a vacuum; change takes time and effort.

As co-chair of the Woodlawn Neighborhood Watch Association, I will continue to recognize the integrity and dignity of all, and strive to instill in others belief in their own worth, in spite of their stations in life.
