NATCHEZ — A trailer for the James Brown biopic “Get On Up” was released Thursday along with a website for the feature film slated for release in August.

Crews for the movie spent nearly three months in Natchez shooting various scenes at locations across town, including the Adams County Airport and Margaret Martin Performing Arts Center, among others.

Other portions of the movie, which is directed by Mississippian Tate Taylor, were filmed in Jackson and other locations in Mississippi.

The film will depict the life of “The Godfather of Soul” from the time Brown was nearly 5 years old in 1938 until he was about 60 in 1993.
