NATCHEZ — Natchez Police Department officers responded to two disturbances on Main Street this weekend, including a report of shots fired that led to the arrest of a Natchez resident.
At approximately 1:12 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of Main Street and found a large group of people yelling and shouting on the sidewalk, according to the police report.
As officers attempted to settle the disturbance, “gun fire erupted” and several people on the sidewalk told the officers a man standing near Biscuit and Blues was shooting the gun, the report stated.
Two officers approached the suspect before he took off running.
The officers eventually Tazed the subject after he repeatedly did not comply with their request to put his hands up, the report stated.
Sam Noble, 24, 367 West Stiers Lane, was arrested and booked on a charge of failure to comply with request.
The officers patted the suspect down, but did not find a weapon.
The report stated the officers heard something metal hit the ground as they were chasing Noble, but nothing was recovered.
Detective Jerry Ford said officers responded to another disturbance early Sunday morning on Main Street that resulted in the night club, Dimples, being temporarily shut down.
No arrests were made in the Sunday disturbance.
