NATCHEZ — One man is behind bars and police are searching for another after the two reportedly shot at multiple people Wednesday at Holiday Apartments on Old Washington Road.
Natchez Police Lt. Craig Godbold said Tavonte D. White, 19, 11 Grant St., and Lewis Jackson reportedly shot at multiple people who were sitting in two cars at Holiday Apartments.
Godbold said White and Jackson reportedly came out of an apartment building, pulled out guns and began shooting. One victim reportedly suffered minor injuries, possibly from being grazed by a bullet, but Godbold said police have been unable to confirm that.
The shooting reportedly stemmed from an ongoing feud between one of the victims and White and Jackson.
White and Jackson fled the scene, but Godbold said a Crime Stoppers caller alerted police to a vehicle White was seen getting into, enabling police to find the vehicle and arrest White shortly after the shooting.
White was reportedly carrying a concealed, loaded revolver when he was arrested.
White was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of carrying a concealed weapon. White is ineligible for a bond because he committed a felony while out on bond for a burglary charge, Godbold said.
White is also facing aggravated assault charges for a shooting at Daisy Street Grocery in early February. White allegedly shot into Daisy Street Grocery, shattering the front door glass. No one was injured in that shooting.
Police are searching for Jackson, who Godbold described as a black male in his early 20s.
Anyone with information about Jackson’s whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.
Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $1,000 for a tip leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.
