NATCHEZ — Delta Bank announced Tuesday its intentions to open a full-service branch in Natchez in the next three months.

Delta Bank, which operates branches in Vidalia, Ferriday, Tallulah and Lake Providence, applied to the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions and FDIC to open the branch, according to a press release.

Leading the bank’s Natchez branch, which will be located at 507 John R. Junkin Drive, will be Natchez resident Will Devening.

“I’m proud that our service is provided locally by bankers who live in and understand this market,” Devening said. “Decisions that impact our customers also are made locally, and our Natchez leadership will be headquartered right here in the community.

“With a full-service branch in Natchez, our team — most of whom our customers will recognize — will offer professional advice and tailor products and services that meet customers’ individual needs.”

Devening has 10 years of banking experience and recently joined Delta Bank from Regions Bank.

He is incoming president of the Natchez Rotary Club, which named him a Paul Harris Fellow, chairman of Trinity Episcopal Day School and a member of the vestry at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Ed Haworth, president and chief executive officer of Delta Bank, said the bank wanted to acknowledge the growing Mississippi customer base by establishing a branch in Natchez.

“I think the customers today are still looking for a bank that will give them local decision making and the touch of a local resident in meeting their business needs,” Haworth said. “A lot of people are tired of the big bank mentality of everything fits into one box, and we take the approach that we want to meet the customers’ needs.”

Haworth also said he was pleased to welcome Devening to the Delta Bank family.

“Will has the skills and knowledge to lead our Natchez expansion and provide that special brand of banking Delta Bank is known for throughout the Miss-Lou,” Haworth said. “For four decades, Delta Bank has provided outstanding personalized service throughout the Miss-Lou.”

Haworth said the John R. Junkin Drive location was chosen for its visibility, but that bank officials would also be looking for other locations are they move forward with the expansion.

The branch is expected to open in the next three months pending regulatory approvals and will offer a full line of financial products and services.

Delta Bank has total assets of $245 million as of Dec. 31, 2013.
