Sex offender arrested after police chase

NATCHEZ — An Adams County man was arrested Monday after he reportedly fled from deputies attempting to arrest him for not complying with sex offender registration requirements.

Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said Robert Lee Wilson, 47, 76 W. Wilderness Road, was charged with failure to register as a sex offender, failure to register a change of address, living less than 1,500 feet from a day care, failure to stop motor vehicle and fleeing arrest.

Wilson was convicted in Adams County in 1983 for rape and carnal knowledge of a child under 14.

Wilson was being held Monday evening in the Adams County Jail on a $40,500 bond.
