Brittney Lohmiller / The Natchez Democrat — After nearly seven years of proposal, funding questions, planning, bidding and value engineering, Adams County officials broke ground near Natchez High School on the FEMA 361 storm shelter Thursday. The 12,000-square foot shelter is meant to withstand EF5 tornados and able to self-sustain for up to 72 hours.
