Monterey — Two Monterey brothers opened fire on each other Saturday afternoon after a heated argument escalated and ended with one in the hospital and the other behind bars.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call of gunshots fired at approximately 1 p.m. Saturday at 202 Duck Pond Road in Monterey.
Deputies found Brian Shavers, 23, giving assistance to his brother, Derrick Savage, 26, who had gunshot wounds to the neck and leg, according to the police report.
A witness said the two brothers had been involved in a heated argument that escalated into an exchange of gunfire between the two men.
Savage was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.
Savage remained in stable condition Monday afternoon.
