NATCHEZ — Natchez police are searching for a 19-year-old man they believe shot at Daisy Street Grocery and another man nearby Wednesday.
Lt. Craig Godbold said Tavonte Denzel “Dirt” White, 19, 1419 Watkins St., reportedly shot at another man after an argument at Daisy Street Grocery shortly before noon Wednesday. Godbold said White also allegedly fired two rounds from a handgun into the store.
“There were people inside, but nobody was injured,” Godbold said.
The bullets came through the front door of the store, shattering the glass in the door, according to a police report.
A Daisy Street Grocery employee said the only damage to the store was the shattered glass in the door, and the store was able to remain open after the shooting.
Godbold said a warrant has been issued for White’s arrest.
White has been previously arrested several times, most recently on separate burglary charges in December and August.
Anyone with information about White’s whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000. Crime Stoppers offers a reward up to $1,000 for a tip leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect. Callers may remain anonymous.
