Prep Roundup: Franklin County girls rallies vs. Jefferson County

MEADVILLE — Tadayla Hunt scored a game-high 21 points as the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat the Jefferson County Lady Tigers 49-47 Thursday night in an MHSAA Division 7-3A game.
Franklin County led Jefferson County 8-5 at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Tigers responded by outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 17-5 in a dominant second quarter to take a 22-13 lead into halftime.
It didn’t look like the Lady Bulldogs were even going to make a game of it after being down 31-22 after three quarters of play. However, the home team had a big-time answer of their own as they made just about every shot they took in the fourth quarter and outscored the Lady Tigers 27-16 to pull out the two-point win.
Diamond Gaines and Dionna Jackson led the Lady Tigers with 14 points each. Danielle Washington chipped in with eight points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Jefferson County (2-3 in division play) hosts Wesson at 6 p.m. today. Franklin County plays host to Crystal Springs at 6 p.m. today.
Jefferson County boys 59, Franklin County 49
MEADVILLE — The Jefferson County Tigers defeated the Franklin County Bulldogs 59-49 Thursday night in MHSAA Division 7-3A action. No other information on the game was available.
Jefferson County plays host to Wesson at 7:30 p.m. today. Franklin County hosts Crystal Springs at 7:30 p.m. today.
Natchez High at Brookhaven postponed
NATCHEZ — Natchez High’s basketball games at MHSAA Division 6-5A opponent Brookhaven that were scheduled for Thursday were postponed, Bulldogs head coach Mike Martin said.
Martin said because Brookhaven High School has been closed since Tuesday because of the snowstorm and its aftermath, the games had to be rescheduled. The games will now take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Wilkinson County at Wesson postponed
WOODVILLE — Thursday night’s MHSAA Division 7-3A games between Wilkinson County and Wesson were postponed because of icy conditions near Wesson. Lady Wildcats head coach Trimeka Gaines said the games will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday.
WCCA at Tallulah Academy postponed
WOODVILLE — Thursday’s MAIS District 7-A games between Wilkinson County Christian Academy and Tallulah Academy in Tallulah, La. were postponed because of icy road conditions. Varsity boys’ head coach David Wright said the games will take place Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
