Trinity girls, boys get blowout wins

NATCHEZ — Tali Beard and Rosa Williams led the Trinity Episcopal Lady Saints with 17 points each as they cruised to a 63-22 win over the Central Private School Lady Rebels Monday night.
The first quarter was a harbinger of things to come for Central Private. The Lady Rebels could not do anything right against a tenacious Trinity defense and ended up trailing 17-0 at the end of the quarter.
The Lady Rebels finally got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter, but were still outscored by the Lady Saints 11-9 to go into halftime down 28-9.
The Lady Saints capped off their impressive win on Senior Night with a commanding 22-4 advantage in the fourth quarter. Sloane Young added 12 points, and Marty Lewis chipped in with nine points for the Lady Saints. The Lady Rebels were led by Samantha Romero with 11 points.
Trinity Episcopal (7-13) plays again at 6 p.m. Friday at Tallulah Academy.
Trinity Episcopal boys 70, Central Private 29
NATCHEZ — Tommy and Arzell McCoy combined to score more points than Central Private School had as a team in leading the Trinity Episcopal Saints to a 70-29 Senior Night win over the Rebels Monday night.
Tommy McCoy led all scorers with 26 points, and Arzell McCoy finished with 13 points for Trinity Episcopal, which jumped out to a 30-8 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back.
Joseph Vinson poured in eight points, Wyatt Boothe had six points and Michael Whitley pulled down 14 rebounds to go with his five points for the undefeated and top-ranked Saints. Thomas Richardson led the Rebels with 16 points.
Trinity Episcopal (17-0) next plays at Tallulah Academy at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
