Snow cancels local games

NATCHEZ — Cathedral High School and Monterey High School’s basketball games scheduled for Thursday were canceled because of inclement weather.
Cathedral was scheduled to take on Salem High School Thursday, but snow flurries led to the game’s cancellation, according to athletic director Craig Beesley.
“It was a non-region game, so there’s no makeup date as of right now,” Beesley said Thursday.
Monterey actually made the trip to Glenmora High School but found out after the boys and girls basketball teams arrived that the games would not be played.
“It’s just one of those things,” boys head coach Cary Shivley said. “I think it ended up being a lot worse than what the weather people were thinking it would be.”
Since the game was a non-district game, Shivley said any possible makeup date would have to be after district play was finished for both teams.
