Vidalia — A Vidalia woman was arrested Wednesday on charges of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile after law enforcement officials found her 19-month old child unresponsive in her house earlier in the week.
On Tuesday, Vidalia Fire Department and Vidalia Police Department officials responded to a medical call at 310 S. Spruce St., the home of Brittany Parker, 22.
Officials found Parker’s son unresponsive at the house.
The child was taken to Natchez Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge.
Medical reports indicate the child was chronically malnourished to the point of being unable to lift his head or arms, VPD Chief Arthur Lewis said.
The baby is reportedly recuperating and doing better.
Parker has two other children that have both been removed from her custody, Lewis said.
