RIDGECREST — Three Ridgecrest residents were arrested Tuesday after they allegedly lied to law enforcement officials about a Pascagoula man wanted for murder who was staying in their Ferriday Drive house.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy David Hedrick said deputies found an abandoned vehicle earlier this week in the parish belonging to Jerry Tashodd Doss, 35, of Pascagoula.
A warrant for Doss’ arrest was issued by the Brookhaven Police Department in connection to the murder of a McComb man, whose body was found in Brookhaven earlier this month.
Doss was the third suspect in the murder of 28-year-old Cornelius D. Porter of McComb, whose burnt body was found by Brookhaven police on Nov. 6.
“We were able to trace (Doss) to a house in Ridgecrest, where we believed he was staying,” Hedrick said. “We went to the house and made contact with the homeowners, who were dishonest about (Doss) being in the house.”
Deputies searched the house and eventually found Doss, as well as narcotics.
Information about the narcotics found inside the house was not readily available Wednesday, Hedrick said.
Tabitha Harris, 27, Johnnie Butts, 21, and Jacqueline Speed, 55, all of 401 Ferriday Drive, were arrested Tuesday evening.
All three were charged with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder, possession of scheduled I with intent to distribute, possession of scheduled II with intent to distribute, possession of scheduled III with intent to distribute, obstruction of justice and child engagement.
All three remained at the Concordia Parish jail Wednesday evening on a bond of $125,000.
Doss, 3102 Eden St., Pascagoula, was booked on a warrant for murder from the Brookhaven Police Department. No bond had been set for Doss as of Wednesday evening.
Doss was previously arrested on a gambling charge in a September raid executed by the Brookhaven Police Department and the Southwest Mississippi Narcotics Unit that resulted in the recovery of 10 semi automatic firearms, 6.5 ounces of cocaine and 25 ounces of marijuana. Doss was among 13 suspects arrested in the September raid.
