It’s that time again and hard to believe that we are in our fifth season with Ballet Magnificat-Natchez.
Ballet Magnificat is recognized as a premier Christian ballet and professional touring company that has performed and ministered nationally and internationally. They will perform our first Christmas ballet, “Most Incredible Christmas” at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Natchez City Auditorium.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with open seating. Tickets are still on sale and may also be purchased at the door for $15, and $12 for a group of 10 or more.
The steering committee and members for the former Sunday School Outreach Class at Parkway Baptist Church are Dr. Akinremi Akinwale, Robert and Dorothy Sylvester, Beatrice Owens and I. This project was birthed out of a desire to reach out and serve our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Ballet Magnificat continues to allow us to do this and with a three-fold focus.
First: the beautiful cultural experience that is offered through each performance. This fill-length ballet will present a breath-taking picture of the majesty and glory of Jesus Christ. It is a combination of ballet, interpretive dance, beautiful praise and worship music entwined in one event.
Second: the proceeds from the ballet will go to The Guardian Shelter for battered families, which is a project of Catholic Charities.
The shelter offers safe shelter, individual counseling, support groups, along with other established services for families who are homeless as a result of domestic violence. Donations are still accepted.
Third: most importantly to the committee is the presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel brings salvation to those who are lost, and strength, hope and encouragement to those of us who believe.
If any of these reasons appeal to your heart, then Saturday night’s performance is just for you. Whether your reason is culture, community or Christ, you will be blessed and it has been a blessing to us to serve the Miss-Lou once again with what could be the most incredible Christmas yet. We hope to see you there.
