NATCHEZ — You can leave the fancy dresses and suits at home Tuesday when you head to the annual Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce Gala.

Chamber President Debbie Hudson said unlike in the past, gala attire will be casual this year.

“When is the last time you went to a gala in comfortable clothes?” she said.

The attire matches the theme of the event, Hudson said, which is “Picture This — Imagine That” and will feature renowned wildlife photographer and Jackson native Stephen Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick has published 11 solo pictorial coffee table books. His book “Sanctuary: Mississippi’s Coastal Plain” is a tribute to the rare and endangered species and habitats of the Mississippi Coastal Plain. Kirkpatrick’s other titles include “Among the Animals: Mississippi,” “Images of Madison County,” “Mississippi Impressions,” “Lost in the Amazon” and “Romancing the Rain.”

Kirkpatrick’s work has earned international acclaim, including the 2011 Writer’s Digest International Self-Published Book Award, the National Outdoor Book Award, the Benjamin Franklin Award and three Southeastern Outdoor Press Association Book of the Year Awards. He has twice been named a winner in the prestigious International Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition held in London.

Kirkpatrick has appeared on the syndicated television programs “Wild Things” and “At Home Live,” the Christian Broadcasting Network’s “The 700 Club,” The Outdoor Channel’s “Adventure Bound Outdoors,” ABC’s “Shark Tank,” CNN and on several PBS and outdoor network specials.

In keeping with the outdoor theme, the gala’s food will be barbecue and dessert dishes, Hudson said. Gala goers will also be able to select songs from a jukebox.

As usual, the Natchezian of the Year awards will be given to a local business man and woman, and small and large business awards will also be presented to successful companies.

The gala will begin at 6 p.m. at the Natchez Convention Center.
