Published 12:01 am Saturday, October 26, 2013
Ghouls, goblins and zombies are set to wander through the streets this Halloween season at a variety of events in the Miss-Lou.
From Natchez to Ferriday and haunted rides to trick-or-treating, local residents are sure to get their scare — or stock up on candy — at one of the following events:
Cox Hill
The annual Cox Hill Haunted Trail Ride continues today and on Halloween Night, starting at 7 p.m. on both nights.
Music, concessions, booths for the kids, space jump and a funhouse for the kids will be available.
The trail ride features classic horror characters, such as Jason, Freddy and Michael Myers, as well as some newcomers from the television series “Walking Dead.”
Admission for all ages is $8.
All proceeds will be donated to a local family, James and Kathy Green, who lost most of their belongings in a house fire.
The festivities are located on Springfield Road in Natchez, just off of Liberty Road.
Downtown Natchez
The annual Trick or Treat for Little Feet for Halloween event will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday in downtown Natchez.
Merchants on Main, Commerce, Pearl and Franklin streets will be open to hand out candy and celebrate Halloween.
The event is sponsored by Natchez downtown merchants and the Natchez Downtown Development Association and is free and open to the public.
City of Vidalia
Residents in the City of Vidalia are asked to trick-or-treat from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in neighborhoods throughout the city.
The Vidalia Police Department will have extra patrols out during those hours and ask parents to keep children on sidewalks and out of the streets.
Trunk-a-Treat
The Town of Ferriday will host its first city-wide “Trunk-a-Treat” event from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haney’s Big House on First Street.
Games, refreshments, music, cartoon character guests and a haunted house will be featured as part of the event.
A costume contest with prizes is also scheduled.
Parental supervision of children under 12 is asked.

Longwood Carnival
The annual Longwood Halloween carnival will not take place this year.
