Domestic shooting shuts down West Elementary School

NATCHEZ — West Elementary School was on lockdown briefly Wednesday afternoon after a domestic disturbance occurring nearby resulted in a man shooting his gun in the air several times.
Natchez Police Department Lt. Craig Godbold said officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at approximately noon Wednesday at Susie B. West Apartments on Lewis Drive.
“There was apparently some arguments going on, and some guy went to his car and shot his gun in the air a couple of times,” Godbold said. “The school heard the shots and put the school on lockdown on safe being.”
The school was taken off lockdown shortly after the disturbance call.
