NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was arrested Monday after Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies surrounded his car on D’Evereux Drive.
Justin D. Anderson, 18, 341 Ann Holden Lane, Natchez, was arrested on charges of no driver’s license and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said the sheriff’s office received a call about Anderson stealing a relative’s car in Brookhaven and driving toward Natchez.
The department also received a call from a motorist in Adams County about a reckless driver on U.S. 84.
Both calls were about Anderson, Mayfield said.
Deputies initially tried to stop Anderson near Red Loop Road. When Anderson failed to stop, more deputies joined the chase to end it quickly, Mayfield said.
“On things like that, you just don’t know what kind of pursuit you have,” he said. “We just didn’t want it to get into town and it become a high-speed chase.”
