NATCHEZ — Whether you’re hungry or looking for some hunting gear, one Miss-Lou event should have everything you need this weekend.
The Markets Food Show and the Miss-Lou Outdoors Expo will be under one roof at the Natchez Convention Center Saturday and Sunday.
The event will feature tastings and samples of everything from etouffee and jambalaya to cookies and ice cream, as well as a few new foods available at The Markets.
“We are going to highlight new and different products like our sushi,” The Markets Retail Operations Director Barry Loy said. “And of course we have ice cream and sweets.”
Vendors include Blue Bell, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Borden, Zatarain’s and others.
Show promoter Jerry D’Eramo said the food show and outdoors expo should have something for everyone. The expo will feature fishing, hunting and camping equipment, clothing, tractors, ATVs, deer stands, as well as a “mini-store” set up by the Sports Center.
The event will also feature local entertainment from local artists, who will compete in a talent showdown, D’Eramo said. The winner will move onto a regional competition in another state and has a chance at eventually competing in Nashville.
D’Eramo said organizers believe the new, consolidated event will bring a variety of people to the convention center.
“They are going to get a whole new experience,” he said. “They can come and enjoy samples, some entertainment, and the outdoors section is just going to be grand for people who enjoy the outdoors.”
The show and expo will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Admission is $5, and children under 8 get in free. Two-for-one tickets are available with a $25 purchase at any of The Markets’ locations.
The event will also include a drawing for $2,500 in groceries from The Markets.
