Temperatures will stay in the 90s, and the chance for thunderstorms will gradually increase throughout the weekend.
Natchez-Adams County Humane Society Shelter Mommy Dogs Adoption Day
The Humane Society Shelter will have an adoption event Saturday to find homes for mommy dogs.
“Mama dogs need just as much love and care as their puppies,” board member Linda Kennon said. “Natchez needs to come out and find room in their hearts to take them home.”
Kennon said mother dogs are often the most overlooked in the shelter. Owners bring in the mother with a litter of puppies.
After the puppies are adopted, the mother remains.
“We’ve got close to 50 adult dogs, 12 of which are mama dogs,” Kennon said. “A lot are healthy and need good homes.”
If the dogs are not adopted, many will be euthanized next week.
“We have no room to house them, I’m begging the community to take them home,” Kennon said.
The adoption event will be at the shelter’s parking lot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The shelter is located at 392 Liberty Road.
The adoption fee is $45, and adoptable dogs can be viewed online at natchezpetadoptions.org.
