NATCHEZ — Reina Kempt has joined The Natchez Democrat’s team as a sports reporter.

Kempt is a Louisiana native who grew up in Baton Rouge, having graduated from McKinley Senior High School in 2009.

She attended Louisiana Tech on a basketball scholarship, lettering for the Bulldogs for two seasons. She recently graduated with a degree in journalism.

During her time at Louisiana Tech, Kempt worked for several different publications, including the Ruston Daily Leader, Bleacher Report and the school’s student newspaper, the Tech Talk. She was the sports editor at the Tech Talk, as well as a graphic designer and copy editor. In her free time, Kempt enjoys writing and playing basketball.
