FERRIDAY — Louisiana State Police arrested a Ferriday man Wednesday for allegedly possessing and distributing child pornography.

Charles Hart, a 70-year-old resident of Ferriday voluntarily surrendered himself Wednesday and was booked into the Concordia Parish Detention Center.

The Louisiana Attorney General’s office notified state police in February that a person was downloading child pornography in Ferriday.

In April, police obtained a search warrant before conducting a search of Hart’s residence. They found images of child pornography and seized his computer. After further investigation, police charged Hart with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography.

He was also charged with possession of an illegal firearm after police found a 12-inch-barreled shotgun.
