NATCHEZ — A Natchez man is behind bars for reportedly shooting into a vehicle carrying two children in April after a fight with the children’s father.
Natchez Police Detective Jerry Ford said Jermaine Marsaw, 26, 2845 Miller Ave., was charged Sunday with four counts of aggravated assault.
The shooting, Ford said, stemmed from an ongoing feud between Marsaw and the children’s father.
Ford said no one was injured in the incident.
The children’s mother, Ford said, reported that their father called her to pick him up, and when she arrived, she reportedly saw him and Marsaw fighting outside Talk of the Town nightclub on East Franklin Street.
After the fight, the woman reported that her children’s father got in her car and was driving away when she saw Marsaw run to his car to get a gun, according to the police report.
The woman reportedly yelled to Marsaw not to shoot because her children were in the car, but he allegedly fired multiple times, ultimately shooting out the back window of the car, Ford said.
The children were sitting in the backseat of the car, according to the report. Ford did not know the ages of the children but said they were young children.
No bond has been set for Marsaw.
