Rice to retire after 31 years as an educator

JACKSON — Henry L. Rice Sr., a 1976 graduate of North Natchez High School, will retire this month after 31 years as an educator.
Rice is currently a teacher in the Jackson Public School District. He was recently honored by Dr. Cedrick Gray, superintendent of Jackson Public Schools along with other retirees from the district.
Rice received his bachelor of science degree in industrial arts education from Alcorn State University in 1982 and information communication technology certification from Mississippi State University.
He is the son Estella “Rice” Drew and the late James Woods and the grandson of the late Martha Rice and Andrew Rice Sr. and Sophia Woods.
He has a son, Henry L. Rice Jr., graduating from Southern University, in Baton Rouge this spring, a son, Andrew M. Rice, graduating from Callaway High School and a daughter, Nasiya. T. Rice, and one granddaughter Iysis Williams.
