WOODVILLE — The search for a missing Wilkinson County man continued without success Friday.
Quinton Barrow, 21, was running a trotline in the backwaters of the Buffalo River with his friend Bo Nettles Wednesday morning when the boat the two men were in overturned after striking a submerged object in the water.
Nettles, 29, was able to swim to safety, but Wilkinson County Sheriff Reginald Jackson said Barrow disappeared into the river after the heavy boots he was wearing became filled with water.
Jackson said Thursday a search of the area, which included the use of helicopter fly-overs, divers and sonar boats would continue Friday, but Wilkinson County Coroner Travis Sharp said Friday evening that the search had not turned up anything new.
“I have not been called out there,” Sharp said. “I went out (Thursday) but with no luck, and I know they have been out there all day (Friday).”
A relative of Nettles said he escaped the accident with only minor injuries, and that it was not uncommon for the two men to run trotlines in that area.
Jackson said Thursday the search would continue until some closure could be provided for Barrow’s family.
