Thanks for remembering Jon Steckler

Thank you for the article on Jon Steckler (published on May 7). It brought back so many memories for me — good and bad. I lived in Vidalia for 30 years, working at both hospitals as a nurse. I was working at Natchez Community Hospital when I had most of my contact with Jon’s father, Dr. David Steckler. I knew the make-up of the family unit, the integrity, faithfulness to that unit, their church, their school, their work and contributions and love for the Natchez community.
The circumstances of the loss of Jon was felt by the whole community. It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years, but time passes before we realize it. Unfortunately, our country has continued down this tragic type of path. Our thoughts and prayers should continue for this family and for our whole country. Thank you for remembering Jon for all he stood for. We would all be fortunate to have such memories for ourselves.
