NATCHEZ — Two Adams County brothers are behind bars after the revenge fire they started damaged not only their intended victim’s vehicle but a second truck and a home as well.
Llewellyn Letcher Jr., 26, and Tavares Jamall Letcher, 33, both of 200A Ford St., were arrested in connection with the incident.
According to an Adams County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, deputies reported the victim told them he was sleeping in his bedroom when he heard a whooshing sound and — upon looking outside — saw Llewellyn Letcher fleeing the scene and a vehicle similar to that of Tavares Letcher.
The victim’s 2005 Dodge 1500 pickup was fully engulfed in flames at the time, the spokesperson said.
The victim told investigators he had confronted the brothers at a nightclub recently and had been told to watch his back because they were going to burn his truck, the spokesperson said.
In addition to burning the victim’s truck, a 2006 GMC Endeavor parked near it was damaged and the home at which the vehicles were parked — which belonged to the victim’s mother — reportedly sustained $5,000 worth of damage.
Deputies reportedly found a Big Shot brand strawberry drink bottle with a small amount of gasoline in it in the area, and it was logged for evidence, the spokesperson said.
Llewellyn Letcher Jr. was charged with arson, arson of a dwelling, possession of a stolen firearm and fleeing a law enforcement vehicle. His bond was set at $33,000.
Tavares Jamall Letcher was charged with arson, arson of a dwelling and probation violation. His bond was set at $30,000.
