NATCHEZ — Services for Charles Edward Fisher III, 59, of Natchez, who died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at his residence, will be at 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Natchez with Dr. Doug Broome and the Rev. Stuart Purvis officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Fisher was born Feb. 25, 1954, at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, the son of Charles Edward Fisher Jr. and Bonnie Raye Trevillion Fisher.
Charlie was a 1972 graduate of South Natchez High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in both math and computer science from Mississippi State University in 1976. Through his career, he was employed by Southern Farm Bureau in Jackson, Callon Petroleum in Natchez and Concordia Bank and Trust in Vidalia. Before retiring, Charlie worked for Fisher Consulting.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Natchez where he served as a deacon, taught youth Sunday school, assisted with the softball program and played a vital role in the development of the broadcast ministry.
Charlie was an avid sportsman and loved nothing better than to sit in a deer stand or wet a hook. He was also a passionate bowler. He considered the bowlers at River Gate Bowl as family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife and faithful caregiver of 33 years, Tanya Lynne Fisher; three children, Michael Edward Fisher and wife, Janeé, of Tyler, Texas, Michelle Leigh Fisher Purvis and husband, Stuart, of Philadelphia and Andrew James Fisher of Starkville and his fiancée, Jordan Felton of Collierville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Brinkley Cait Fisher, Alaina Blaire Fisher and Dawson Layne Purvis; one brother, Terry Fisher and wife, Deborah, of Natchez; two sisters-in-law, Teckla Luft of Terry and Pam Miller of Birmingham, Ala.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Richard Lambert, Gary Holloway, Thomas Bolyer, Vernon Cavin Jr., Raymond Gill, Charles Stephens and Chuck Gilbert.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gwin/Pyron Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.
