WINNSBORO — Funeral services for David E. Martin, 78, of Monroe, who died Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Monroe, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Young’s Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Martin was a self-employed builder and landscaper who loved building and growing things. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Hill City Masonic Lodge No. 456 A.F.&A.M. of Austin, Texas.
Mr. Martin was a loving and caring father.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Geraldine Martin.
Survivors include four daughters, Jeanie Hoyt and husband, Brent Hanna, of Covington, La., Judy Kay and husband, Quinton Ragsdale, of Woodville, Sandi Cavin and husband, Edwin, of Natchez and Karen Hamilton and husband, Robert, of Pineville, La.; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie Cupstid, Andrea and Clifton Cupit, Jessie Ragsdale, Beth and Jacob Cavin, Lawrence Caldwell, Grace, Marah, Morgan and Robert J. Hamilton; five great-grandchildren, Sabastian and Steven Smith, Madison and Caydence Ragsdale and Lila Rae Cavin; six brothers, J.C. Martin, Edward Martin, Willie Martin, Jerry Martin, Michael Martin and Timothy Martin; and six sisters, Dorothy Simmons, Viola Lee, Janet Smith, Carol Harris, Diane Boyd and Pam Butler.
