George F. Griffing

PINEVILLE, La. — A memorial service celebrating the life of George F. Griffing, 76, who died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Rev. Philip Robertson and the Rev. Tom Jordan officiating.
Mr. Griffing completed high school at Jefferson Military Academy in Washington in 1954. He went on to attend Northeast Louisiana State University and then graduated from Louisiana State University in 1960 with degrees in business and law.
He practiced law for 53 years in Jonesville and Pineville which included service as an assistant district attorney for the seventh judicial district.
Mr. Griffing was one of the founding board members of Southern Heritage Bank, serving on the board for 40 years. He was also a member of the Catahoula Parish School Board, Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Gideons International and the Louisiana Bar Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward Reneau and Ethel McFerrin Griffing and three brothers, Ward R. Griffing Jr., James M. Griffing and Robert S. Griffing.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jackie A. Griffing; one daughter, C. Mignonne Griffing of Bossier City, La.; two sons, Richard L. Griffing and wife, Rachel, of Monterey and Ward E. Griffing and wife, Lisa, of Pineville; one brother, Dr. J.C. Griffing of Charrier; and five grandchildren, C.B. Griffing, Hannah M. Griffing, Emma L. Griffing, Martha A. Griffing and George Campbell Griffing.
